The Vectana and Velosis have officially dropped!
And they’re already moving off the shelves. We’ve heard from shop owners in Sweden, the U.S., and France: “Customers are lovin’ the new whips.” Okay, no shop owner really said that, but that’s the basic nature of the reports trickling in from around the world.
So here’s the skinny: The Vectana and Velosis are brand new performance running shoes for PUMA. They’re the first shoes to hit the market from our new footwear team. You’ve already gotten to meet Justin, so you know how geeked out these guys are about making the best riding, best looking technical running shoes in the industry. The Vectana and Velosis are just the beginning. Of course, making shoes is a long process . . . they’ve already built and designed shoes for the Fall of 2010! That’s right, 2010. So what you see today is just the appetizer. These shoes will be your BTP (best training partner) for the next 300 miles. After that, we’ll see . . .
Fast and Fun Facts: The all new Complete Velosis is our top-of-the-line neutral training shoe. It offers exceptional fit and comfort with an ortholite sock liner and memory foam in the heel. Just try this sucker on . . . your foot will smile. When you run you’ll notice it’s smooth ride from touch-down to toe-off. duoCELL cushioning in the heel provides a soft, but responsive impact. But the best part about this shoe is that it carries your momentum forward through toe-off, as if your foot is on auto-pilot. That’s called Fast Forward Design: the high toe spring and aggressive midsole taper give you a little extra boost on every stride. The Velosis is built for neutral runners looking for maximum cushion and comfort for their daily run.
The all new Complete Vectana is our mid-range stability training shoe. Like the Velosis it offers an exceptional fit and smile-inducing comfort. It’s also built with Fast Forward Design, so you can cruise along at any speed. What’s different about the Vectana is the M2D post on the medial side of the shoe, which provides stability for those runners who overpronate. If that’s you, this is your shoe.
So check out the shoes online (just search Velosis and Vectana) or at your favorite running shop. Run your favorite loop. Test them out. And then shoot us some feedback. The footwear team reads the site so this is your chance to be heard.
PS - If your favorite running shop doesn’t carry PUMA Running shoes, ask them to. Then hit us up in the comments and we’ll go banging on their door. Seriously - we will!

Hi. How does the Vectana compare with the Magnetist? I’ve been a very happy Magnetist runner for some time now and considering yet another pair of them, or then these new Vectanas. I’ve heard the Vectanas are somewhat wider in the forefoot - not necessarily a good thing for me since my foot is quite narrow. Any comments?

About the LIFT Racer…is this shoe a suitable lightweight trainer or just a fashion shoe? I’m considering purchasing them this weekend. I am a midfoot striker practicing the POSE method (midfoot strike) and usually train in racers like the Complete Roadracer III.
Thanks!
Oh, and while this is a running specific site, I’d love to see Puma get more involved with rugby in the USA!

Tom - Great question. I would not recommend the LIFT as a replacement for the Complete Roadracer.
The LIFT is a casual athletic shoe that is suitable for the gym, a few miles here and there…perfect for the active, on-the-go lifestyle, but it’s not rooted in performance training.

Karl - this is the response I got from the ‘design team’ regarding your question.
In comparison to the Complete Magnetist III, the new Vectana provides more physical cushioning underfoot, and a new comfort based last that offers a little more volume in the forefoot, and additional toe spring to help make the toe off as efficient, and smooth, as possible. Due to the increased thickness of underfoot cushioning, the Complete Vectana is now a broader reaching style designed for everything from tempo runs, to the daily grind, to logging in those high mileage runs on the road.
Because of the addition of a style like the new Vectana, it reinforces the position of the Complete Magnetist III as an ideal lightweight stability trainer for runners who are looking to do faster tempo runs with a lighter weight, lower to the ground shoe.
The new Vectana offers some new additions to better improve fit and performance, such as Everfit memory foam in the collar of the heel to better help the shoe conform to your specific foot shape (this should address the narrow foot issue), and a generous amount of ldCELL cushioning at the point of heel strike and under the ball of the foot. A specially-tuned M2D medial post and ArchTec shank work in harmony with new heel geometries to provide just the right amount of stability for the overpronator without ever feeling hard or intrusive. If you already enjoy the Complete Magnetist, I’d recommend giving the new Vectana a try….it’s a great addition to your collection of running shoes if you’re looking for an every day stability trainer.

My local running store, Fast Break Athletics in Chattanooga, TN, doesn’t carry Puma. I think that’s a travesty.

ZBSports.com does not carry Puma running shoes! They are a great biz w/ great customer service and they donate a % of their profits to worthy causes. I would really like to see them carry at least the Puma running shoes. Thanks

Hi,
I tried on the Puma Vectana and they felt really, really good in the store. But after running just a few miles in them, my feet really hurt, and that is because they are stability, not neutral cushioning (got them mixed up!). The store won’t take them back because they’ve been worn, even though they look brand new (but all tags have been removed). : (
Any way I could return them to the manufacturer in exchange for the Velosis? They are size 9. I cannot really afford to just chuck them and buy another pair.

Hey Guys - I just bought some Velosis at a local shop here in Aspen, Colorado. The shop is called “Durrance Sports”. While walking around town with a Puma bag in my hand, people were constantly asking me “Hey, is there a Puma store in Aspen?”. Their shop is right on the mall and building the Puma brand at their store would be way cool. Did I say cool? Cool or cool! Talk to Alex. (970) 429-0101

Hi Puma peeps!
I received my new Velosis last week, and they are fabulous. I especially like the toe-off, which makes you feel like running even when you’re just walking. Nice roomy toebox and great cushioning! Big difference from the Vectanas for my particular biomechanical needs. The color and “look,” for those of us who care about aesthetics (who, me? care about looks?) are great too. Thanks for making the “exchange”! Now I can try to outrun my cat.

Getting Puma complete - anywhere other than a website in the UK is almost impossible! Why???? Even your flagship stores don’t stock them. I’m a dedicated wearer for over 6 years and a number of marthons etc… I’ve tried other shoes in the shop but only PUMA fits first time… why are you failing to sell these shoes? Even the manager of the flagshipstore in canarby street (and i tried Brum) too asked me where I got my complete shoes… this is crazy.
I want the shoes but can’t buy them!

Hello Puma Team,
My name is Daniel and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I am a ametuer Muay Thai Kickboxer and part of my training regimen when getting ready for a fight is running. I do a lot of long distance and short, windsprint type running. I have read nothing but ravving reviews about the Puma Complete Velosis. I searched for over six hours yesterday just to be supprised by finding out not a single store in Las Vegas carries them or any high end Puma running shoes for that matter. I even visited the Two only factory Puma stores in town and they did not even know what the Complete Velosis or the Vectana shoes even were and obvioulsy they did not carry them and could not tell me when they possibly would start. I ended up ordering them from a sporting goods store online. I ordered the Velosis Limited and am sure I will love them. I am not a big fan of ordering shoes online since there is always a sizeing issue or two. I love Puma and being a soccer fanatic also have worn over 20 pairs of Puma shoes over the years. Please get some info. and stock coming to Las Vegas. It is sad that a factory Puma store employee does not even have a clue of the model shoe I am talking about.
Loyal Puma Fan,
Daniel V.

Hello Puma Team.
With a group of friends we discussed strange things that PUMA is doing. First - Puma has always been in an avant garde of design - look and feel. And now ? Velosis looks like some asics, Vectana is so wide that I would never thought about it as a lightweight stability trainer for fast paced runs - a fast shoe must look fast. Puma behaves now is if you were sorry for your old models - like Trail 100 (an absolute ideal shoe for fast trail running), Eutopia, Tenos where also great. Second - Velosis has so much material under the heal that it looks as if you were going in the opposite direction of were the world is going - as if you were in the mid ’90s. Is this a result of bad sales results and you decided that the best way would be to make “standard” “asics look” shoes ? Untill now, for the last two years - I used only your shoes. Now - what am I supposed to do? Switch to adidas I think? Don’t forget about fast, light, eficient, narrow feet runners because they are the main oppinion makers. You can not abandone a strategy that you chose two years ago only because your sales people were not ready to sell it. Could I ask for Justins email? I would like to interview him (we run a website for runners) Regards.

Hi Puma Team,
I bought a pair of the velosis size 9 from a local shop in Cornwall UK for £95, bought them on the 25th Aug 09, they felt like slippers and were superb to run in to start with. I am 12 stone , and dont regard myself as a heavy runner by anymeans but after only 2months and 142miles (i have a GPS Garmin Forerunner, i have worn the tread down quite a lot. I have used them for road running only. Also I have picked up a injury and need to consider buying a new pair.
Is it possible for me to have worn these the velosis trainers out already? Please advise thanks Mark Dymond Cornwall UK.

I went into my running store to replace my PUMA Complete Tenos V to find out they had been discontinued! I searched the web for an hour to no avail. With that said, what how would you recommend to replace? I loved the weight of the Tenos V. Thanks.

Hi John - It’s true that the Tenos is phasing out, but they are still available online (http://www.shop.puma.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-Puma-US-Site/en/Search-Show?q=tenos) and at a great price. You can stock up on a few pairs. The best current replacement would be the Concinnity. However, our product team is totally revamping the lightweight category so we’ll be coming out with several new shoes in the next year that are really nice.
